Mr. Murray is entering his second year as the choir director at Blackford High School and Junior High. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and was active in choir, drama, tennis, basketball, and in his youth group. He attended college at Anderson University and majored in Music Education while minoring in Mathematics. Upon graduation, he taught a year in Clarksville, TN teaching Algebra 1 and Senior Finite Mathematics. At the end of that year, he accepted the job at Blackford to teach choir and coach tennis. He has really grown to the love the supportive community and wonderful students at Blackford and looks to teach/coach there for many years to come.
Mr. Murray is happily married to his beautiful wife Jenny. They enjoy reading together, watching television, enjoying interesting cuisine, and hiking/exploring together. Mr. Murray also enjoys watching and participating in sports in his free time. His favorite sports teams are the Michigan State Spartans and the Detroit Lions. He also enjoys playing tennis, basketball, and other pick up sports when he has the opportunity. When he has the chance, he enjoys composing choral, instrumental, and contemporary music. He is planning to pursue his Masters Degree in Music Theory and Composition in the coming years.
